~Thanksgiving to God~

Posted by

This past Thursday was Thanksgiving, today in Church we discussed what we all gave thanks for this past thanksgiving. We may have given thanks for the food that we were about to chow down on, but then there was so much more to be thankful for, that’s what Church was about this morning.

This mornings service focused on four different things that we should recognize and be thankful for on a daily basis.

  1. Being thankful for the positive changes
  2. Being thankful for God’s grace
  3. Being thankful for eternity
  4. Being thankful for our purpose.

Being thankful for the positive changes, is similar to focusing on the positives in life, but taking it one step further and realizing that it is through God from which these positive changes are realized.

Being thankful for God’s grace, is saying we are thankful for EVERYTHING that God does, for us, through us, with us, and he saves us. It is because of God’s grace that we are able to succeed in whatever we do, and God’s grace is also is what helps us through difficult times.

Being thankful for eternity, means when we leave this earth, our souls will go to live with God in heaven, in a house He’s made specifically for you.

Being thankful for our purpose, whether that purpose be a good purpose or a not so good purpose, God does have a purpose for you.

I wear a ring with the bible verse Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you.

When I first picked out this verse, I felt that my life was in limbo, I had finished school, gotten my degree and secured a full-time job, but I wasn’t happy that I wasn’t were I felt that I should be. You see I had a plan, a five-year college plan, clearly that wasn’t what God had in mind for me. There were so many positive changes that came out of this situation that I didn’t see at first.

I had graduate with a degree from Radford University, and I need to remember some children aren’t even able to go grade school, much less college.

I had secured a full-time job, even though I know that not everyone has a full-time job I wasn’t being thankful for that fact.

The takeaway from this post is, it is just as important to be thankful for the little things as it is to be thankful for the large things, have faith, and trust in God. God was, is, and will be, always right beside you, for he knows the plans he has for you and you must trust in his plan.

This Sunday Sentiment was inspired by the 10:15 service at Blue Ridge Church in Christiansburg Virginia in accordance with their series called Marvel on November 27th, 2016.
